Rig Inspection
Home > Other Services > Rig Inspection
With the increase in drilling activity, Oil and gas firms are ensuring due diligence by requesting third party inspections and audits to be conducted on both drilling and service rig operations on a regular basis. To meet the demand, our founder and chairman has been involved in conducting both drilling and service rig inspections since 1998 to both CAODC and API requirements. In 2004, the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety code clearly stipulated in part 37, section 758(1) and (2) the requirements for rig inspections by a competent individual or worker.

One of the requirements of the OHSC is that an employer must ensure the drilling rig, service rig or stubbing unit is inspected by a competent worker.
  • Before it is placed into service
  • Every 30th day it is used for as long as it is in service

 Also, the competent worker must prepare a report of the inspection and the employer must keep a copy of the report;

  • at the work site where the drilling rig, service rig or snubbing unit is in service and
  • at the employer's principal place of business in Alberta for at least one year from the date of inspection.
